ZooCinema
As one of the new atractions for this season the Liberec zoo has prepared for the visitors the so called ZooCinema. Instead of sci-fi movies or rom-coms the cinema features documentaries about the animals that can be found in the zoo and projects the zoo takes part in all over the word. Visitors can watch the documentaries for free every day during the opening hours of the zoo.
The ZooCinema can be found in the upper part of the premises by the enclosure of the Przewalski horses. The ZooCinema is equipped with a large modern screen, control panel featuring the selections of the films and seating for approximately 20 people. At the moment the selection includes seven documentaries about the protection of nature created with the direct involvement of the Liberec zoo. Apart from those films a wide range of various documentaries about the rescue of animals, feeding and nutrience needs or a brand new video mapping the help the Liberec zoo has provided to the protection of nature in Indonesia. For the little ones there is short animated story about the life and fate of asian songbirds known by the name “Silent forest”. The film database of the cinema will ofcourse be going through regular actualisations and will keep changing.
The tropical pavilion
The feeling of walking through the tropical rainforest can now be experienced in the tropical pavilion of the Liberec zoo. The entire upper floor has gone through a modernisation and is now a home to a number of new and rare breeds of exotic birds.
With the arrival of the summer holidays the upper level of the tropical pavilion is open to the public once more. All of the expositions have been improoved in more ways than one and are already housing numerous feathery inhabitants. Larger number of small aviaries has been replaced with four spacius ones, which will house multiple different breeds of birds simultaneously.
One of the expositions includes an artificial waterfall, another is adorned by live bamboo. Those provide the animals with shelter, which has been lacking in the old glass aviaries. There is also a new fog and dew system refreshing The visitors of the pavilion. The light rain joined with the high humidity create a breathtaking atmosphere of tropical rainforest.
