Bylo nebylo is a kind of baby among Liberec bars since owners Martin and Eliška opened its doors as recently as spring 2023. Building the place on their own from the ground up with great passion, its decor will please the eye of the strictest of interior designers. Even though they do great food, their cocktails are something else. The owners come up with the menu and drink list themselves and their offer is frequently updated. What’s really unusual, however, are the names of the drinks. Where else can you walk up to a bar and order Intimate Lighting, Godzilla or Trip Participants? In Liberec this is the only place you can do so! The friendly staff at the bar will be happy to fill guests in on the backstory of those original titles. Best of all, they mix the drinks from such high quality liquors and spirits that you will wake up the next day without a hangover.

Stereo at Papírové Square is a spot most Liberec OGs are familiar with but even those not so well-versed in what’s going on downtown will like it. The bar hosts music events throughout the year, featuring local and visiting DJ’s. In the summer, you can sit with a glass of cider on the terrace, play table tennis with friends, or just stretch out in a deck chair and listen to live music. Linked to Stereo is the MOON GALLERY, an exhibition project that aims to showcase works of the current generation of artists. The concept of vernissages at MOON quite interesting – they always take place at full moon!

Vokno is the place of choice for those looking for something a little different, making it the perfect spot for hipsters and the creative crowd. This bar is known for its alternative, slightly underground style. It serves beers on tap from the Volt brewery and you can enjoy some great music there, often from local bands and artists. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, with local architects, artists and even politicians among the bar’s guests. It’s the ideal place to chill out with friends and listen to some good music. They even have a patio in the inner courtyard!

Azyl is the right destination in Liberec if you feel like a pint of IPA or sour beer. This bar specializes in beers from small breweries and has a great selection on tap. The bar’s premises make it a suitable venue for various cultural events, concerts and beer festivals! Just make sure you have enough cash on you as they don’t accept cards.

Papír is a new kid on the block in Liberec! Set up by local architects and music enthusiasts from the premises of a former stationery shop in Revoluční Street, Papír is unique for its basement space adapted to hold cultural events, especially those involving music. DJs known by local fans from events such as Multiversum or Shotgun often play here. Although the bar opened just a short while ago, it has already succeeded in making a name for itself among local creative professionals, artists and musicians. The basement atmosphere with its dim lights and white smoke attracts all those who feel like going to a rave or just swaying to the rhythm of the tunes of artists behind the mixing deck. As yet, Papír is the only venue of this kind in the city centre, which only enhances its popularity.

Switch, a modern bar, is a meeting point of Liberec’s Generation Z. They hold parties, gigs featuring local bands and rappers and even outdoor barbecues there. During the summer its owner Štěpán and his team extend the indoor bit with a terrace and an outdoor bar where guests can sit around until the wee hours. They also have table football and darts to enjoy inside. Often packed to the rafters, the bar is a great place to meet new people.
