Through the beautiful places of Bohemian Paradise

Length of the route: 144 kilometres

Ride time: approximately 3.2 hours

Did you know that part of Bohemian Paradise belongs to our region? And because it‘s a paradise not for a look only, this time we‘ll go out on a winding path right there.

The road from Liberec will be easy to find, this time it will take you to Ještěd. Well, you are not to climb up to the hilltop this time, you can take the road through the mountain pass (point 1) just

below the hilltop. Of course, if you have not visited the hotel itself and the transmitter yet, you can take a short detour and enjoy both the view and the ingenious architecture. When you jump over the ridge and reach the other side of the hill and ride down through the famous Ještěd serpentines, continue your ride straight along the No. 2784 road to Hodky (point 2), there leave the main road and turn left and follow the traffic signs to Světlá pod Ještědem. After a few kilometres you will reach the  No. 278 road and it will take you to the left to Český Dub (point 3). Make a stop there just for relax and a short breathe in, enjoy having a look at its historic center, then follow the road signs along the No. 277 road towards Mnichovo Hradiště.

A short rest was needed because there is a beautiful stretch of road with lots of curves ahead of you. After riding further 7 kilometres you will arrive in the village of Podhora (point 4), there you should take the left turn to the No. 279 road towards Turnov. Ride through Svijanský Újezd and Svijany (point 5) where you can find a beautiful castle and a famous brewery. Ride along E65 expressway in Svijany for a while, which will take you to Turnov itself (point 6). Exit the four-lane road when passing through Turnov and follow the traffic signs towards Sobotka, then at the roundabout follow the same direction towards Sobotka again. After riding further 1.5 kilometres, exit the main road and turn left and follow the traffic signs towards Kacanovy. Twisted road will take you up the steep hill, then downhill again. And there the beauty of Bohemian Paradise begins. You will also feel comfortable in the valley of Kacanovy village (point 7), where you can enjoy an opportunity to bathe. In Kacanovy look for the traffic sign to take the left turn to Vyskeř. There are many sharp turns and bends on the

narrow road ahead of you and you will have an opportunity to enjoy numerous views to the countryside. Turn left towards Hrubá Skála (point 8) at the pub in Vyskeř. Here you should definitely

make a stop just to visit the castle and enjoy views to the nearby countryside. Pine forests, lots of rocks and splendid views, that is true Bohemian Paradise. Continue your ride from the castle and

the narrow road will take you to the first crossroads, there turn right and follow the traffic signs towards Trosky. Ride through the valley below Trosky around Vidlák and Krčák ponds up to Troskovice (point 9) and you will see famous ruins of Trosky Castle in front of you. Follow the

signs to reach the parking lot below the castle, then there is just a short walk to the castle ahead of you. After leaving the parking lot, turn right just at the crossroads and follow the traffic signs

towards Borek (point 10), there you can visit a nice Motomuseum. Not very far from that museum you will take the No. 35 main road from Turnov to Jičín. Turn right towards Jičín, but immediately

after 1.5 kilometres turn left and take the No. 282 road towards Rovensko pod Troskami (point 11). Continue your ride through Rovensko and Václaví to Radostná pod Kozákovem (point 12). There turn left at first and take the main road towards Turnov and then after riding 500 metres turn right and follow the traffic signs towards Kozákov. The road could take you through Kozákov directly to Semily, but we definitely recommend taking a detour to the cottage and to the lookout tower of the same name, from where you can enjoy a truly breathtaking view not only to the Bohemian Paradise.

Turn left at the roundabout in Semily (point 13) and take the No. 292 road towards Železný Brod. Leave this town behind and after riding 4 kilometres you will see the Izolas company area on the

left (there is a barrier bar and a company sign) and a few meters behind it a small parking area on the right side of the road. Park your motorbike there and return back a bit, find and follow the tourist signs to the Krkavčí skála lookout point. The walk is only 200 metres short, which is definitely worth the view of Jizera River and the train track along the river. Mount your motorbike again and take

the No. 292 road to Železný Brod (point 14), there turn right along the No. 10 road towards Harrachov. You can enjoy a 9 kilometre long stretch of infamous curves to Držkov (point 15). There at the church turn left towards Zásada. Then continue your ride through Huť to Dolní Černá Studnice (point 16) and turn right opposite the bus stop to reach broken road that will take you to Horní Černá Studnice. There find and follow the traffic sign to Černá Studnice Restaurant, which is located in the

dead-end street. With the good chance for refreshment, you can find there a lookout tower, from which you will see the whole Euroregion Nisa in the case of good visibility.

Return back from the lookout tower to Dolní Černá Studnice and then take the main road to continue your ride to Jablonec nad Nisou. At first stick to the No. 65 and 14 roads towards Liberec, so that you turn right at the roundabout near the gasworks and follow the traffic signs towards Bedřichov and do it again at the next roundabout at the Shell gas station (slightly to the left) and at the crossroads at the Mol gas station (straight ahead). And now you are already on your way to Bedřichov (point 17), which is another centre of the Jizerské Mountains; there are numerous turns and curves on the road ahead of you and you can enjoy the same exciting ride when following traffic signs to return downhill to Liberec.
