Horseman rock viewpoint
This rock viewpoint is the remnant of a castle that was apparently built to guard the route from Liberec to Frýdlant. It can be found in the Liberec district of Kateřinky, high above the valley of the Černá Nisa River.

– not available –It is not known who founded the castle or when, although it is assumed to date back to the 14th or 15th century. The castle was built on three sandstone rocks, and as it was mostly made of wood, virtually nothing of it has been preserved. Apart from an interesting legend that gave the viewpoint its name, that it. The legend has it that the castle was home to a rabble headed by bandit Black Jíra, who kidnapped a beautiful maiden and, in front of his followers, jumped on horseback from the rock on which the castle used to stand. Apparently, the imprint of a hoof was left on the rock, hence the name "Horseman".

Not far from the Horseman viewpoint you can see a large granite quarry, from where there is a lovely view of the city with Ještěd in the background.
