As you walk through the passageway linking Pražská and Široká streets, you’ll feel as though you were in a kind of open-air gallery, packed with unconventional works of art, which you actual tread on. That’s because the paving stones are set with manhole covers from towns from this country and abroad, so there is a series of varying cast-iron plates – some with generally simple motifs, others distinctively decorated. The Civilization project has laid out more than 40 manhole covers to admire under your feet, making it into the Czech Book of Records.
