Zen-Houses

Proof of the fact that some outstanding architecture is also being built in more recent times in Liberec can be seen in the Zen-Houses family house and studio, which won the prestigious Czech Architecture Award in 2016.

Panel family house

Zen-Houses is based on the idea of a panel family house, where architect Petr Stolín decided to work with the conventional wooden panel sizes (125 x 300 or 125 x 500 cm) without trimming them any further. As this modular wooden panel structure can be used in various layouts and is suitable and cost-effective in many respects (its appearance, price, transport, assembly), it is a great solution when there is a need for fast minimalist housing.

Built with an emphasis on simplicity

Simple to build, simple housing, that’s what we call an ideal solution. The building facade gives the impression of a fine translucent layer. And although it’s only 3 metres wide, the interior doesn’t seem cramped at all. That’s because the large glass windows make it feel like the inside merges smoothly with the views outside.

Award

  • The building won the top award in the first year of the Czech Architecture Awards competition in 2016.
