Length of the route: 292 kilometres

Ride time: approximately 5 hours

You have certainly understood that we are going to travel around the German state of Saxony. Traveling through it all would be definitely a trip for several days, so today we will visit as many as

possible places within entire eastern bulge of its territory. It will be really good trip today, a lot of riding is waiting for you. From Zittau, we start northwest towards the borders of Šluknovský bulge.

No. 96 road will take you through Oderwitz (point 1) to Oppach (point 2); there we recommend to

stop at and visit one of the many local mills there. There we will turn left onto No. 98 road through

Sohland an der Spree and ride to Steinigtwolmsdorf (point 3). Beautiful countryside and forests

are ahead of you and a pleasant ride, of course. If you wish to relax in an active way, then we recommend stopping at the swimming pool at Freibad. Otherwise, turn left at the church to the Neustädter Strasse (No. S 154 road) towards Neustadt in Sachsen; you will ride through nice forests again… If you are fascinated by such beautiful nature and you want to enjoy its peace for a while, turn right at the Hohwald Steinwerke bus stop, which is about 4 kilometres beyond the town and

then on the first turn after a hundred meters to the left - you will get to the beautiful Dolerittagebau Grenzland Lake, surrounded by rocks.

Return back along the main road and then continue your ride to Neustadt in Sachsen (point 4), where, besides some interesting historic buildings, you can also find a local museum in the old brewery former malt house. Your trip will take you through the northern part of the town, follow the roadsigns towards Stolpen. The medieval castle will delight history fans there. From the castle ride northwest and follow the roadsigns towards Arnsdorf until you reach the 5 km distant junction

(point 5) with the No. 6 road connecting Dresden and Bautzen. Turn right towards Bautzen and the

road will take you to Bischofswerda (point 6). Besides other species of animals, you can watch bears in the animal park in Bischofswerda, which is definitely a great experience.

If you are not interested in animals today, then turn right just before entering the town at a major crossroad and take the No. 98 road. The road will take you through the small town of Rammenau, where the only surviving knighthood estate in Saxony is located, and then will take you to the junction with the No. 4 road, which you should only cross under and follow the No. S94 road to Kamenz (point 7). Continue your ride straight towards Bernsdorf (point 8), where you reach the No. 97 road, take it and turn right towards Hoyerswerda. After riding further 5 kilometres turn left and

take the No. S198 road, which will take you towards Schwarzkollm. There you will take the No. 96 main road and turn left towards Senftenberg (point 9); you can find one of the largest artificial lakes in Germany there. The lake itself offers not only a number of beautiful beaches, but also restaurants, cafes and lots of other activities to do in its surroundings.

You are now approaching borders between Saxony and Brandenburg, it‘s just time to return. Let‘s start our return on the No. 96 road generally to the right in Senftenberg and after further 4 kilometres turn right again to take the No. 156 road towards Spremberg (point 10) and Bad Muskau (point 11). The town has become world famous for its unique Fürst Pückler Park, which is the

UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is a beautiful piece of cultivated nature, it is the largest Central European park in English style on the border with Poland, which is formed by the Lusatian Nisa river.

When you have enough of the beauty of the park and the renovated castle, mount your motorbike and ride along the river to the south, take the No. 115 road and it will lead you then. We recommend not to miss the chance to visit a beautiful Erlichthof openair museum in the town of Rietschen

(point 12). Continue your ride through Niesky to Görlitz (point 13) to stop in the town centre; it is rich of historical buildings from different periods and belongs to the largest historical urban open - air museums in Germany. Silesian cuisine with specialties such as smoked bole with fruit sauce (Schlesisches Himmelreich) is widespread and quite popular there. Let your taste buds enjoy it. Then continue your ride from Görlitz by the No.99 road around the Berzdorfer See lake to the south and through Ostritz back to Zittau. We believe that you have got a lot of exciting experiences during today’s trip and you have had a good ride.
