New carnivorans in the zoo

New carnivorans arrived at the Liberec Zoo – margayes (Leopardus wiedii) and the North-Chinese leopard (Panthera pardus japonensis)

On Tuesday, September 22, 2020, in the evening, a transport with a female North-Chinese leopard and a pair of margay arrived from the German Zoo in Magdeburg to the Liberec Zoo. Visitors to the Liberec Zoo can observe margay for the first time.

The four-year-old leopard female should form a breeding pair with the original ten-year-old male, who has been staying at the Liberec Zoo since 2011. The aim of the garden is to reproduce both of these felines and thus strengthen their populations kept in human care in zoos.
