A new species of poisonous frogs have found a home in the reopened tropical pavilion of the Liberec Zoo, which underwent a minor renovation at the end of the year.
These are South American tropical frogs: yellow-banded poison dart frogs and dyeing poison dart frogs.
Poison dart frogs produce a toxic skin secretion on their skin, which they obtain from their food in the nature. However, individuals raised in zoos are not poisonous, because in farms under human care, frogs lose this ability and toxicity due to a different diet.
