A rare maneless zebra cub was born at the Liberec Zoo – one of the most endangered animals on our planet.

The maneless zebra is one of the five subspecies of the steppe zebra. In the wild, it is found only in northern and northeastern Uganda where the last 300-400 individuals live, according to estimated numbers.
Currently, there are only 10 zoos in the world that keep maneless zebras, and the entire population kept in human care is only 38 individuals.

Visitors to the Liberec Zoo can observe the small zebra (together with the entire herd) in the outdoor shared enclosure with the Rothschild giraffes, where they go every day if the weather is good.
