In the North Bohemian Museum in Liberec, you can wander through the forests of the Jizera Mountains! Two exhibitions draw inspiration from the Jizera Mountains: one looks into selected chapters of the legendary Book of the Jizera Mountains, and the other portrays the phenomenon of tramping – freedom, romance, and friendship.

This exhibition is based on the now-legendary Book of the Jizera Mountains by Miloslav Nevrlý. It combines audiovisual elements with artworks, facts, natural materials, photographs, tactile objects, and models related to the Jizera Mountains.
Freedom, Romance, Camaraderie… 90 Years of Tramping in the Jizera Mountains

This exhibition illustrates the phenomenon of tramping, a unique Czech (Czechoslovak) way of staying in nature, influenced by scouting, woodcraft, the Wild West, the life of Canadian trappers, hunters, and Native Americans. Discover key elements of tramping philosophy, including principles, style, culture, rituals, etc. The exhibition of photographs and texts is complemented by historical artifacts such as tramping clothing and equipment, chronicles, flags, totems, guitars…”
