Public Transport Company in Liberec has purchased a historic tram

Employees of the Public Transport Company of Liberec and Jablonec nad Nisou (DPMLJ), along with representatives of Boveraclub, set off together to visit a private museum in Mariazell, Austria, and acquire a new exhibit – an original Vienna tram car of type K No. 2329, built in 1913 at the Studénka carriage factory.

The tram was demonstrated as fully operational during test runs in Mariazell, and now awaits a thorough inspection in Liberec, followed by about a year of modifications for operation in local conditions. In 2026, it could join occasional operations on historical lines and special rides.

Although the vehicle does not historically belong to Liberec, its architecture resembles eleven Liberec trams delivered in 1921, also from Studénka. Since Liberec has a town hall and theater inspired by Viennese architecture, it is expected that locals and visitors will appreciate the nostalgic rides in this original Vienna tram.
